How does it work? The term "laser" stands for "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation". This isn't your ordinary light; lasers emit light in a concentrated beam, allowing it to target specific areas with remarkable accuracy. This focus is what enables our lasers to zone in on hair follicles without impacting the surrounding skin. Central to the process is melanin, the pigment responsible for the color of our hair and skin. The laser's light is absorbed by the melanin in hair follicles. The darker the hair, the more melanin it contains, which heightens its sensitivity to the laser's effects. As the melanin absorbs this light, it heats up. This controlled introduction of heat damages the growth structure of the hair, especially its bulb and stem cell. As a result, the hair's ability to regrow is significantly impeded.
-
Is it applicable for any skin colour?Yes! Over time, technological advancements in laser hair removal have widened its accessibility. Different laser wavelengths and durations can be adjusted to treat a diverse range of skin and hair types. This adaptability ensures that treatments are both safe and effective. Interestingly, aside from its primary role in hair reduction, the heat from the laser can sometimes stimulate collagen production, providing the added benefit of smoother and firmer skin over repeated sessions.

Does it hurt?Laser hair removal is often described as having a sensation rather than being overtly painful. However, the perception of pain or discomfort varies from person to person. Many patients compare the feeling to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Others describe it as a mild tingling or a warm pinch. It's essential to consult with a licensed professional or dermatologist to discuss any concerns or questions related to pain or discomfort. They can provide more specific guidance tailored to individual needs and the specific laser equipment they use.
